Universal Suffrage and the Right to Vote
- In 1900 only one country allowed women to vote
- 1950 = 69
- 1975 = 129
- Despite the right to vote their were still differences in education and pay
- "… While women represent fifty percent of the world's population, they perform nearly two-thirds of all working hours, receive only one-tenth of the world's income and own less than one percent of the world's property"
Summary
In 1900 only one nation worldwide allowed women to vote, but by 1979 this number had increased to a total of a hundred and twently nine different countries. Although women were permitted to vote, differences in pay and education still existed.
