Summary
In 1955 Egypt and Russia align with each other, and only a year later Egypt begins to acquire weapons from Czechoslovakia. At the same time Israel is threatened by Gamal Nasser, and in response the United States backs out of the Aswan Dam Project in Egypt. Eventually, the Suez Canal is nationalized by Nasser and the Israeli's do not hesitate to attack first. The UN Peacekeeping Force was able to finally settle the crisis, and Israel's economy starts to flourish under these secure circumstances. Lastly, the influence of power in the area transitioned from British and French to Russian and American.
